Bride walking down aisle.

Friday, I had the absolute honor of capturing Travis and Madeline’s wedding on Super 8 film—and I’m still floating from the magic of the day.

Their wedding took place at a quiet retreat tucked away in Plant City, Florida—a place that feels like it was made for storytelling. The venue was surrounded by arching trees that wrapped the ceremony space in a soft, natural canopy. It felt like stepping into a southern fairytale: warm air, dappled light, and this peaceful stillness that made the whole day feel set apart from time.

From the moment I arrived, I could feel the energy between Travis and Madeline. There’s something incredibly special about filming a couple who truly feels the weight and beauty of the moment—not just the visual perfection of the day, but the deep emotion that underpins it. That’s exactly what Super 8 is made for. It’s not about perfection; it’s about presence. About capturing a day as it truly was—grainy, glowing, honest, and full of heart.

The ceremony began at 4 p.m., with guests handed delicate heart-shaped fans to keep cool under the Florida sun. As the first chords of “Young and Beautiful” by Lana Del Rey (an instrumental version) floated through the air, Madeline appeared—soft and radiant, walking slowly toward Travis. That moment was a breath-holder. The trees gently swayed, and even the birds seemed to hush for her entrance. You could see the emotion all over Travis’ face.

One of the most touching parts of the ceremony was when Madeline read from her journal—an entry from 2018 when she first realized she was falling in love with Travis. There was something so pure and vulnerable about hearing her own words from years past, spoken aloud in front of their closest family and friends. It reminded me how rare it is to witness love in such an unfiltered way.

After the ceremony, we moved into portraits, and the light just kept getting better. Madeline and her bridesmaids held parasols, which added the most romantic, vintage touch against the lush greenery. The whole bridal party carried this calm joy with them—everyone felt present, content, and just so genuinely happy for the couple. I filmed them walking slowly, laughing, brushing hair from their faces as the breeze caught it—all those small, beautiful in-between moments that you can’t plan for.

As I captured it all through my Super 8 camera, I kept thinking: this is exactly what this medium was made for. The softness of the grain, the slight flicker of light, the way it embraces imperfection—it all matched the energy of the day so perfectly. This wedding wasn’t just beautiful. It was deeply felt.

I’m so grateful Madeline chose to have part of her wedding captured on film. She was so intentional from the beginning—she didn’t just want a highlight reel. She wanted the emotion. The feeling. The moments that words can’t always reach. And I truly believe we got it.

This film will always have a special place in my heart!
