A New Beginning...
Starting something new is hard. Whether it's a new workout plan, job, school, or book, it's always more challenging than we anticipate. Beginnings, for me, are like a double-edged sword. On one end, there's the stinging pain of leaving behind what you once had, but on the other, there's hope for what is to come. However, I can't seem to shake the feeling of impending doom, wondering if it all won't work out. It's easy to dwell in negativity; being negative is relatable and sexy. It's the positivity part that never comes easy.
But let's focus on the latter and talk about some things I am excited for as we begin our new journey to Florida.

St. petersBURG, fl
An Oceanside Town
On my first full day in Florida, I treated myself to a pedicure, feeling rather Legally Blonde-esque. You see, Florida is a barefoot town, as my nail technician so eloquently explained, "Everyone here has their feet showing all the time so you have to have your nails done." And she's not wrong. It was precisely what I needed after long days of moving. What drew us to Florida was precisely that barefoot ocean lifestyle. I often find myself daydreaming about my children running barefoot, toes buried in sand. We knew we wouldn't find that in Arizona, so we sought it out here.
St. Petersburg, Florida, began its journey back in 1888 thanks to John C. Williams and Peter Demens. They aimed to create a haven for those tired of harsh northern winters. Naming it after its Russian counterpart seemed fitting. It soon gained fame for its glorious weather and pristine white-sand beaches, attracting tourists and retirees alike. Today, it's a vibrant city renowned for its arts scene, culture, and startup culture. Despite facing challenges like hurricanes and economic downturns, St. Pete's has retained its charm, cementing its status as a must-visit destination along Florida's Gulf Coast.

Support Local
One thing about smaller towns is there are always going to be smaller businesses. There's nothing quite like walking into a coffee shop that knows your name and order. That's one thing St. Petersburg does well, supporting its local businesses. I have already visited local cult favorites like Pete's Bagels, Bandit Coffee, Pia's, and more. In a world where overpriced coffee is the norm, you might as well have someone who cares about their craft making your coffee.
As we settle in, I hope I can find new places to call home and capture them in their true and authentic way. There's something about having the opportunity to take photos of places you love. I am looking forward to finding a place where I walk in the doors and feel like I am known and appreciated.

Good Ol' Film Photos
The Future is Film
In conclusion, shooting film in Florida has been an enriching experience, one that has allowed me to capture the essence of my life in a unique and timeless way. It's a reminder that amidst the convenience of smartphones, there's a special magic in the art of film photography that cannot be replicated. As I continue on this journey, I am reminded of the importance of sharing my work with others—not only to inspire them but to exchange creative energy and foster connections. This is just the beginning of my new adventure, and I'm filled with excitement to see where it leads me next. Here's to capturing more moments, creating lasting memories, and embracing the beauty of analog photography in the Sunshine State and beyond.
